New Year's Eve

Hey kids,

I hope you are doing well. Oma sent me some pictures of you in the snow. Looked like fun!

Here, it is hot. Here is a picture of me in a park.

I have been writing a lot about New Orleans in the past few days. It will be on the Internet soon.

Tonight, I am going to a parade. Maybe I can take you some pictures for you!

Happy New Year!

Great weather

Hey kids,

I hope you had a great Christmas.

Yesterday, I came back from granma and granpa's. Lots of their friends were there, so it was very loud. The wind blew down a lot of their trees in the storm.

Back in New Orleans, some of the biggest trees were blown down. Sometimes, you see just a giant trunk on the side of the road, like this one:

Remember you can click on the picture to make it bigger. My old house in New Orleans looks great now:

I lived at the top left. And this is a picture of me eating a po-boy, a giant sandwich with shrimp. The thing in the front is a stuffed artichoke.

Ok, write me a comment sometime by clicking on "Comment." I'd like to know what you are doing. Give Pascale a hug for me.

Happy Christmas Eve!

Hey kids,

Just a quick note to wish you Merry Christmas! I hope you have a good time singing and eating sweets. I will be visiting my parents today and tomorrow before coming back to New Orleans tomorrow night.

Just to show you how hot it is here today, here is a picture of me walking down the street. I am the guy with the black shirt and pants and the backpack.

Trucks and ship

Hey kids,

I hope you are fine and having fun. We have sunny skies and warm weather today . It reminds me of spring.

There are a lot of interesting trucks here now because the wind blew down so many trees. Here is a fire engine. Remember to click on the photo to make it big.

And I had never seen this kind of yellow truck before. It has big wheels to get around on streets with stuff on them.

And look at this ship on the Mississippi River! It makes that big white truck look really small.

Here is a picture of another ship with the river and the bridge in the back.

Give Pascale a hug for me! And write me a comment to let me know what you are doing. You can write in German if it is easier.

Love,

Arrival

Hi kids,

I got to New Orleans safe and sound. I flew to a city called Atlanta and then had to drive 10 hours to New Orleans. I was tired!

It is good to be back home. Everyone is nice. People I do not know talk to me on the street and ask me how I am doing. A man in a store today started singing. Yesterday, three women came out of a shop singing. Music is in the air here.

I think about you and Pascale all the time. I took some pictures for you. Remember you can click on them to make them bigger.

I used to live here in Jackson, Mississippi - three hours north of New Orleans. I went to high school there (grades 8 to 12).

This is my high school. You can see that they have a fence around it. No one can get in who does not go to school there. These pictures do not look a lot like Germany.

Now this is a picture of a playground down the street from where I am staying in New Orleans.

This looks more like Germany.

Ok, I know that is a lot of reading, so I will write you tomorrow. Give Pascale a hug from me! And remember that you can write a comment back to me by clicking on the button "Comment."

Love,
